Lit-Chix - June 2011

Winnie hosted the Lit-Chix this month, to review Philippa Gregory's novel, The Virgin's Lover.  The Virgin's Lover is the story of Elizabeth 1 and her lover, Sir Dudley.  Unfortunately, most of the Lit-Chix found the novel to be very slow and did not finish.  However, kuddo's to Robin and I for pulling through.  (I'm patting Robin and myself on the back!)  Not really, sometimes it is very difficult to keep reading when a book really drags on.  We had read another of Philippa's books two years ago, "The Other Boleyn Girl" and it was very good.

Nevertheless it did not deter us from having a great time being together, talking about vacations, new books and planning two get-aways.  One, is going to be in July, a day trip to Newton for lunch and shopping.  Two, Going to Nell Hill's in Atchinson this September.  It will be a great time and I'm really looking forward to it.

Winnie prepared a fabulous chocolate cake with fresh raspberry's and served it with raspberry sherbet.  It was very good and a great "lite" dessert.

Thank you Winnie for having us to your beautiful home and always making us feel special.  You are a "pearl of a girl".
